Rooms

Sleep close to the trail.

Batur Pyramid Guesthouse sits on Jalan Pendakian Gunung Batur, the road that leads to the Mount Batur trail. Balconies look out over the pool, and there is a garden and terrace to sit out in.

Room types, beds and rates are confirmed by the hosts when you get in touch, so start with your dates and the size of your group.

After the climb

Afternoons by the water.

Sunrise climbs start before dawn and are usually over by the morning. After that, the day is yours: a swim, a seat on the terrace, a long look at the mountain you just walked up.

Roads into the caldera come down from the rim at Penelokan towards the lake and the village of Toya Bungkah. The guesthouse is on the hiking road, so set your map to the pin rather than the village centre.

Most visitors without their own transport arrange a private driver for the trip up to Kintamani. If you would like suggestions, ask the hosts when you send your dates.

Kintamani is high up, so evenings and the hours before sunrise are cool. Bring a warm layer, and good shoes if you plan to climb. Let the hosts know roughly when you expect to arrive.

Between the climb and the rest

Start in the dark.
End with nowhere to be.

Tell the hosts when you are coming and whether you plan to climb. The rest can be worked out together.
